As with any other joint in the body, the elbow is a fine balance of structures including bones, cartilage, ligaments, and tendons, each of which can be injured or can lose proper function over time. Tendinitis, for example, is a common overuse condition and a frequent complaint from tennis players, golfers, and swimmers.
Other causes of elbow pain can include sprains, fractures from trauma or sports injuries, arthritis (degeneration), bursitis, and more.
